Motherhood Reflections: Ways to Honor Yourself

May is a month filled with celebrations for my family. Between Mother’s Day, my birthday, and my son’s birthday, I can’t help but think about my motherhood journey. I am in awe, as my baby approaches the big three in a few days. It seems like not long ago we were bringing him home. The saying “the days are long, but the years are short”, certainly holds true.

When I think about motherhood, many words/thoughts come to mind. Words like grateful, blessed, tired, long, special, busy, thankful, and labor of love, to name a few. The responsibilities we have as mothers (in addition to our other responsibilities), can sometimes be daunting and take a toll on you. While reflecting, I created a list of things I’m striving for more of. These are things I plan to focus on. Taking time to prioritize these types of things is a way in which I will honor myself. You too, can do the same thing. Take a moment to create a personalized list for yourself, or borrow some of these ideas. As moms, we must take time to prioritize our health and wellbeing, because if we don’t, we can’t effectively take care of others.
